Corridor specification
by lines & municipalities

Corridor Danube–Mura–Drava–Sava proposal ranges from Vienna and Graz in Austria, with the border crossing in Spielfeld-Straß to Maribor, Pragersko, Ptuj, Ormož and border crossing Središče in Slovenia, to Čakovec, Varaždin, Krapina, Zaprešić and finally to Zagreb in Croatia.

Crossing three countries this Core Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) proposal is connected with two core TEN-T Corridors:

corridor danube mura drava sava three railway lines

Core TEN_T railway corridors include the most important connections, linking the most important nodes, and are to be completed by 2030.

European Union (EU) provides funding for railway infrastructure and railway terminals also through EU Cohesion Policy. The co-financing rate of EU grants is up to 85 percent. Funding is channelled through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund (CF)

Routes & daily frequency

Corridor current & upgraded routes & daily frequencies in Slovenia & border regions

Despite the fact that the Pragersko-Hodoš railway line is new and that it is a double-track line from Maribor to Pragersko, we have only twelve connections a day on the route between Maribor and Hodoš! Even less during the weekends.

There are two daily connections between Pragersko and Ormož. Maribor and Murska Sobota have three direct daily connections in one direction and two in the other. An international train to Budapest runs once a day (and in the summer there is a night train from Budapest to Koper and back). Pragersko and Murska Sobota have one connection per day in both directions. From Pragersko to Središče there is one train a day and two back to Maribor. There are two daily connections from Maribor to Ormož in this direction. Two trains are from Pragersko to Hodoš, one as a transfer connection and the other from Koper.

Ormož has six connections to Središče a day, only two of which are cross-border to Čakovec. Current routes in this corridor are really deep below the potential of the railway lines for the passenger railway transport in this corridor, especially for inter-regional cross-border and international routes.
