Railway line from Zagreb to Zaprešić over Krapina to Varaždin and Čakovec is partly already upgraded and electrified. Modernisation and electrification of the part of this line between Zaprešić and Zabok is already well under way and is about to start runinng in 2021. Plans are for the complete new railway construction to connect Krapina and Varaždin via Lepoglava and to modernize and electrify the part from Varaždin to Čakovec too.
