With Mayor Anton Butolen, we have signed a Letter of Intent for the Municipality of Žetale to join the Mobilitatis Omni grouping. Žetale Municipality is yet another border municipality that has joined the grouping, with the primary goal of organizing connections between intercity bus and railway transportation.
The Municipality of Žetale is a border municipality in the Podravska statistical region, with approximately 1,300 inhabitants. The municipality directly borders the international road crossing at Gruškovje. Near Žetale, there is a non-electrified, single-track railway line coming from Croatia, leading to Rogatec and Grobelno. The road distance from Žetale to the railway station in Rogatec is less than thirteen kilometers. To the fully renovated railway station in Pragersko, passing through Majšperk, this distance is just under 30 kilometers, and to the railway station in Ptuj, it is slightly over 22 kilometers. In the past, Žetale had a coordinated bus connection to the railway station in Rogatec. The goal of the Municipality of Žetale joining Mobilitatis Omni is to reintroduce this and other connections to the aforementioned nearby railway stations and hubs.
Mayor Butolen shared with us during our first presentation meeting last year that they have five cars at home. This is because in the family, commuting to work and studying in Maribor simply cannot be managed otherwise. We are pleased with the mayor’s trust that we can break this cycle of dependency on personal car transportation. Mobility for all, including the Municipality of Žetale.
