Current and proposed state of the railway network in Slovenia
Currently, Slovenia has 1,207 kilometers of all railway lines, including 333 kilometers of double-track lines and 874 kilometers of single-track lines. Three of the nine railway border crossings with Austria, Hungary and Italy are still closed. Of the eight railway border crossings with Croatia, two are not in operation and the rest have a very poor frequency of railway connections.
Therefore, by 2030, we propose up to 1,385 km of railway lines, 870 km included in the core TEN_T, currently 510 km, and 515 km of lines included in the extended core TEN_T, currently in the comprehensive TEN_T entered 107 km. We therefore propose nothing more and nothing less than planning the upgrading of all inter-regional railway lines and the re-establishment of the missing cross-border railway crossings.
